Phone: (937) 431-8010 David A. Smith is a certified financial planner (CFP®) and a partner at Smith, Moses and Company, LLC (SCM), an independently owned financial services firm specializing in financial, estate, and investment* strategies. SMC has offices in Vandalia and Beavercreek, Ohio. Dave has been working in the financial planning industry since 1986. As an independent financial adviser, he has the freedom to recommend the best possible strategies to help clients fulfill their financial goals and objectives. He does this by listening carefully to clients, and then interpreting and confirming their goals and objectives, before developing a suitable financial plan. We believe Dave’s ability to translate and explain complicated financial planning products and techniques gives clients a higher degree of confidence. As a result, we believe many clients turn to Dave for his experience in individual retirement planning and qualified retirement plans for small businesses. He currently manages approximately 250 advisory accounts, which include both retirement and fee-for-service accounts; more than 375 IRA, rollover, and non-IRA accounts; and a significant amount of qualified retirement plans for small businesses. He routinely partners with other professionals, including an area attorney and an accountant, and together this team strives to provide clients with a holistic approach to estate planning. Dave’s role includes outlining the upfront global business and financial strategies for high-net-worth individuals and small businesses.
Experience: In 1992, Dave and two partners, Michael Griesmeyer and Forest Moses, established Smith, Griesmeyer & Moses, LLC in Dayton because they wanted the independence and opportunity to provide unbiased financial advice, product recommendations, and strategies to clients without worrying about production quotas or being driven by transactions and commissions. In 1998, Dave spearheaded the opening of a second SGM office in Beavercreek. By then, SGM had seven advisers in both offices. Today the firm, known as Smith, Moses and Company, continues to expand its number of advisory/fee-for-service accounts, and is one of the largest independently owned financial services firms in the Dayton area, with 10 independent advisers. Among Dave’s many clients are those he began servicing in the late 1980s, both individuals as well as medical professionals, who now own larger practices. At SMC’s Beavercreek office, Dave supervises two independent advisers, two administrative staff members, and a financial services intern from Wright State University in Ohio. He established SMC’s internship program with Wright State in 1986. Credentials: Dave is registered and does business with clients in 27 states. He holds Life, Accident & Health, and Annuity licenses and these registrations:
